Patients and health professionals experience significant inequities as a result of embedded and systemic racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination, and change is long overdue. As part of our commitment to advancing equity in medicine, the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia is dedicating a special themed issue to articles focussed on equity, diversity and inclusion in Anesthesiology and Critical Care. We welcome a range of articles including original research, surveys, systematic reviews, and narrative reviews on topics related to equity in anesthesiology and critical care. We aim to include a range of topics including equity in health care outcomes, cultural competency and education, leadership and the perioperative environment. This issue will be published in early 2023 with a submission deadline of April 4, 2022. All submitted papers will undergo peer review before a final decision on publication.
