Publishing model:

Journal updates

  • Editor’s Monthly Choice

Each month, the Executive Editor selects two or three recently published articles that exemplify the best qualities of our journal: genuinely international scholarship on the theory and practice of lifelong learning, supporting and promoting the development of sustainable learning societies. These two articles may be downloaded and shared free of charge or subscription during the month of their promotion. More...

  • Call for Papers

IRE is a hybrid journal, which aims to publish the best new scholarship from around the world, while also influencing the development of policy and practice in the field of lifelong learning through evidence-based research. We value contributions from both established authors and emerging scholars.

  • UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning

The UNESCO Institute of Lifelong Learning supports Member States in the field of lifelong learning with a focus on adult and continuing education, literacy and non-formal basic education. It pays special attention to UNESCO’s Global Priority Africa and Global Priority Gender Equality. It has one of the largest libraries in the world within its specialized field and hosts the world’s longest-running journal of comparative education and lifelong learning.
