Structure and properties of 76Φ steel in plasma powder surfacing

Abstract

Plasma powder surfacing is improved if it is followed by high-temperature hammer impact on the coating. The structure and physicomechanical properties of a 65Kh25G13N3 alloy coating on 76Φ rail steel are assessed. This technology for the application of a wear-resistant coating on carbon steel may prove useful in the production and restoration of railroad switches.
