Abstract
The redesign process in Global Product Development (GPD) project adds complexity for coordinating changes among globally distributed teams. This paper presents an improved Change Prediction Model (CPM) to analyze change propagation among distributed components and to evaluate the impact of change propagation between components. An affiliation matrix is proposed to evaluate the involvement of GPD teams in the process of redesign components and predict technical communication for coordinating redesign. Finally, an industrial example is used to verify the proposed concept and models. The design structure matrix (DSM) clustering method is utilized to determine the optimal allocation of GPD organization such that the sum of cost effort is minimized.
