Abstract

This chapter focuses on whose values count (and on how well-informed judgements are or can be). In that perspective, the chapter shows in nine steps how reliance on consumer sovereignty and revealed preference gradually makes way for stated preferences, where individuals or their representatives answer hypothetical and, possibly, leading questions in surveys and statements made by experts and, subsequently, for preference imposition in ‘planners preferences’.
