Abstract
After Grace has left her clothes on a beach in Brittany, she and Walter embark on a new life together. They journey to Australia and then on to New Zealand which, at the time, is being actively promoted as a ‘paradise’. Walter works briefly as a medical locum in Wellington and Grace makes her first formal appearance as his wife.
