Abstract

In order to help pre-service and current teachers understand the difficulties that some students who are standard English learners (SELs) (Redd & Webb, 2005) have when translating from their home languages (for this particular workshop, African American Language) to standard academic English (SAE), a colleague and I created a workshop that includes an activity specifically addressing this issue.
