Zusammenfassung
Die sorgfältige klinische und ggf. apparative Untersuchung der Leistenregion bei Verdacht auf eine Leistenhernie oder bei Schmerzen in der Leiste ist essenziell für den Behandlungserfolg. Im vorliegenden Kapitel werden Vorgehen und Leistungsfähigkeit der diagnostischen Verfahren in ihrer Wertigkeit dargestellt. Die Bedeutung der Diagnostik einer okkulten Hernie sowie die Möglichkeit, zwischen medialer oder lateraler Lokalisation zu unterscheiden, werden ausführlich diskutiert.
