Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit den Wahltechniken von Tammany Hall in New York City am Ende des 19. und zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts. Die von dieser Parteiorganisation geübten Wahlmanipulationen werden in den zeitgenössischen Kontext der demokratietheoretischen Diskussion gestellt.
