Zusammenfassung

Über die Hälfte der nicht-organisierten Beschäftigten in den USA wünschten sich eine Gewerkschaft. Doch 2022 sank der Anteil der Gewerkschaftsmitglieder weiter auf nur noch 10,1 % insgesamt und in der Privatwirtschaft auf 6 %. Hauptgrund für die Diskrepanz sind die im Vergleich zu beinahe allen anderen westlichen Industrieländern schwierigen Organisationsbedingungen der US-Gewerkschaften. Zu den historisch gewachsenen kulturellen, rechtlichen, institutionellen und politischen Hürden kommen organisatorische Schwächen der Gewerkschaften selbst.
