Kurzfassung

Im RACE2-Projekt MCPR (Multimedia Communication Processing and Representation) wird eine System-Architektur eines zukünftigen breitbandigen Endgerätes entwickelt. Hierbei werden relevante Technologien für die Kommunikation, der Verarbeitung sowie der Repräsentation und Präsentation multimedialer Dienste und Informationen eingesetzt. Zur Unterstützung der Bedienung sowie als Basiskonzept der Benutzerschnittstellen-Entwicklung werden Hypermediatechniken benutzt. Dieses Endgerät, das die heutige Workstation- und Videotechnologie als Basis für ein zukünftiges System integriert, ist als Terminal für das europäische Breitbandnetz (IBCN) zu sehen. Ein erster Prototyp bestehend aus zwei direkt verbundenen MCPR-Systemen wurde im Oktober 1990 der EG in Brüssel vorgestellt.

Das Konsortium dieses Projektes bestand in den Jahren 1988–1990 aus SEL-Alcatel (D; Prime Contractor), Alcatel-SESA (E), TELENORMA (Bosch Telecom) (D), Tecnopolis CSATA Novus Artus (I), Alcatel- FACE (I), Alcatel-STK (N)
