Abstract

Nitrosamines are well known carcinogenic compounds that require a metabolic activation to generate electrophilic species able to elicit toxic, mutagenic or carcinogenic damage in cells. This activation process, generally involving an α-Chydroxylation has been shown to be a cytochrome P-450 dependent reaction.
