Abstract
Peroxisome proliferator xenobiotics (including clofibrate, a hypolipidaemic drug) are a class of non-genotoxic hepatocarcinogen in sensitive species such as the rat and mouse and result in characteristic liver responses including hepatomegaly, peroxisome proliferation and induction of microsomal cytochrome P450IVA1 (P452)-dependent fatty acid hydroxylase.
