Abstract

Optimism and a sense of excitement at the potential of youth work to make a positive contribution to welfare and educational practice and thinking was a central theme throughout Youth Work (1987), the first of these linked texts. This, the second of the three books, tempers that with a critique which questions the very future of the Youth Service, whilst still being positive regarding the activity of youth work. A regard which is underlined in the last book, Young People, Inequality and Youth Work (1988), where the focus is upon the impact of social division and the possibilities for effective practice.
