Abstract

Evaluating an economic policy is a difficult art, for even the economists’s most sophisticated tools provide no guarantee that an indisputable judgement — indeed even an“obiective” description — can be made. Hence with historians and political scientists contributing to the debate, one could expect these to be several different interpretations of the French socialist experience (except for two years). Thus our interpretation will be as biased as any other, but no more.
