Laparoscopic Paraesophageal Hernia Repair. How I do it

Abstract

Introduction

The approach to paraesophageal hernias has changed radically over the last 15 years, both in terms of indications for the repair and of surgical technique.

Discussion

Today we operate mostly on patients who are symptomatic and the laparoscopic repair has replaced in most cases the open approach through either a laparotomy or a thoracotomy. The following describes a step by step approach to the laparoscopic repair of paraesophageal hernia.
