Abstract

With the growing acceptance of CORBA as the underlying technology for distributed Telecommunications management solutions and with the endorsement of CORBA IDL and CORBA Services as part of Network Management Forum's architecture for management systems, the Management System Framework, a strong need for gateway functionality which will allow for seamless integration between the CORBA and CMIP/CMIS technology domains has emerged.

This paper presents the approach taken and the concepts used to realize integrated network management in the European ACTS project Prospect (project number AC052). The Prospect work has provided a marriage of the CORBA and CMIS/CMIP technologies by providing a CORBA to CMIP gateway based on the NMF Management System Framework and the work of the Joint Inter-domain Management working group.
