Abstract
Starting with the consideration of dd-fusion of bare ions at low energy a brief review is given on recent theoretical papers concerning enhancement factors for fusion rates per pair and second in metal lattices. Essential enhancements can be expected both from the electron screening of Coulomb repulsion and from dynamical effects, resulting without unrealistic assumptions in expected fusion rates within the range λdd = 10−29...10−46s−1. Under special conditions further enhancements are not unrealistic.
