On the compatibility of ignition with sputtering in a tokamak reactor

Summary

The possibility of reaching ignition in the central core of a tokamak plasma—in spite of sputtering—in the absence of any artificial protection of the wall is discussed on the basis of a numerical investigation of a JETlike discharge.

Sulla base dello studio numerico di una scarica del tipo ottenibile nel JET, si discute la possibilità che la parte centrale di un plasma di deuterio e trizio, confinato in un tokamak, si accenda anche in assenza di qualunque tipo di protezione artificiale della parete.

На основе численных исследований для разряда типа «JET» обсуждается возможность достижения зажигания плазмы дейтерия и трития в центральной части токамака, несмотря на распыление, при отсутствии искусственной защиты стенки реактора.
