Abstract

Surgical Principles

Removal of bony wedges from the hindfoot through a lateral approach. The shape of these wedges must be determined preoperatively. Minimal internal fixation of the severely osteoporotic bones and immobilization of the limb in a slightly padded below knee cast until beginning of fusion.
