Persistent cutaneous fistula in the neck

Summary

A cutaneous fistula may develop from an infected tooth. The lesion usually arises without dental symptoms and for this reason is often incorrectly diagnosed. For correct diagnosis intraoral radiographs are essential. Elimination of the infectious process and curettage of the periapical lesion are indicated. Usually no further treatment is warranted.

Zusammenfassung

Anhand eines Falles einer dentogenen lateralen Halsfistel wird auf die Aetiologie, Symptomatologie und Therapie dento-kutaner Fisteln eingegangen. Die Fisteln entstehen normalerweise ohne primäre Zahnsymptome und sind deswegen oft Anlaß zu Fehldiagnosen. Zur korrekten Diagnosestellung sind intraorale Röntgenaufnahmen notwendig. Die Sanierung des primären Zahnbefundes führt in den meisten Fällen zur Abheilung der Fistel und macht weitere therapeutische Maßnahmen überflüssig.
