Abstract

Under King Abdullah II, Jordan has followed a policy that is primarily designed to safeguard Jordan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, stability, and security notwithstanding internal and regional challenges by fostering close and friendly ties with major world powers, international financial institutions, with Jordan’s immediate neighbours as well as member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The King’s diplomatic acumen has significantly contributed politically, economically, and strategically to elicit requisite support for Jordan and enabling it to meet enormous challenges emanating from Palestinian and Syrian refugees, especially in the wake of Jordan’s limited natural and economic resources.
