Abstract

Rhizomes monopodium. Culms diffuse, erect; internodes terete, sulcate on the branching side, culm walls moderately thick; sheath nodes a little prominent; culm nodes prominent. Branch solitary on each node, erect or upward. Culm sheaths deciduous, shorter than internodes, the upper part rounded, margins with dense cilia; auricles purple, oral setae developed; ligules nearly truncate; blades long triangular to lanceolate, erect, the base narrower than the top. Several leaves per branchlet; margins of sheaths with dense cilia; auricles purple, nearly falcate or oblong, oral setae radiate; ligules nearly truncate; blades linear-lanceolate, transverse veins conspicuous. Iterauctant inflorescence lateral, clustered panicle, subtended by broad bracts; pseudospikelets broadly lanceolate, florets 2–5; glume 1; lemma glabrous; palea 2-keeled, apex of keels ciliate; lodicules 3, ovate, nearly equal; stamens 6, seldom 3–5, anthers ca. 9 mm long, yellow; ovary long obovate, glabrous, style 1, short, stigmas 3, plumose. Caryopses. New shoots May. Flowering May.
