Study on Selection Methods of Speed Control Measures for Low Grade Roads in Rural–Urban Fringe

Abstract

With the advancement of mechanization process, road in rural–urban fringe has become an area where traffic accidents happen frequently, and overspeed is the primary cause for fatal traffic accidents. In order to improve the traffic safety level of low-grade roads in rural–urban fringe, speed control measures should be selected scientifically and reasonably. Based on traffic characteristics of low-grade roads in rural–urban fringe and implementation effects of the existing measures, this paper analyzes the applicability of speed control measures under common conditions of low grade roads in rural–urban fringe. Moreover, suggestions are proposed for selection of speed control measures in typical special segments of low grade roads in rural–urban fringe. In addition, by taking the low-grade roads in rural–urban fringe of Lishui City in Zhejiang Province as an example, selection schemes of speed control measures are formulated.
