Abstract
Since 1923 I have lived and worked among refugees, among students, teachers, youth-leaders, social workers etc. belonging to different nations and coming from various parts of the world. 1 have also had the opportunity to observe human relations between 1929–1933 when I was general secretary of the International Student Association with its headquarters in Berlin. At that time we were interested in actively involving foreign students in Europe in work for international understanding via study trips, conferences, meetings, work camps, discussion groups etc. Since 1936 I have been head of a unique institution called Agni, (in Swedish also Örjansgarden) which for 30 years has had participants and guests at its seminars and relief work amounting to over 40,000 from most countries in the world. 43 years of my life and work spent among individuals representing a great part of mankind constitute a vast field for observation and experiences.
