Abstract

Considering the mastering of knowledge as a requirement for concurrent engineering, we propose an approach to capitalize the knowledge which must be taken into account in concurrent engineering. On the basis of knowledge engineering methodologies, we present the MEKECE methodology dedicated to concurrent engineering. We propose to mix Case Based Reasoning and Expert Systems approaches. To limit the redesign, the different process knowledge must be capitalized and their key characteristics implying a threshold effect on both time and cost must be available in a convenient form for the designers.
