Abstract

The presentation of the two-component theory of aspect has focussed on the basic notions and their realization in language. I now turn to formalization of the theory. In this Chapter I discuss the principles and rules that are needed to associate the surface structures of sentences with their aspectual meanings. Chapter 7 integrates the analysis into Discourse Representation Theory.
