Certain Relationships Between Lake Level Variations and Some Climatic Factors in Finland

Abstract

The material in this paper consists of a study of variations in high-water level and in five climatic factors for six Finnish lakes at two Meteorological Stations during about a hundred years. Correlations and autocorrelations with a lag of 36 years are used as primary methods.

The periodicities in water level and climate partly seem to follow the periods of solar activity (11 and 22-23 years). Moreover, there are obvious similarities also in the periodicity of lunar circulation (18 and 31 years).
