Abstract

In Indonesia the Neolithic came to an end at dates that were widely different for various regions of the territory. In the Island of Enggano, for instance, an Early Neolithic Civilisation was still in existence in the 18th century 1; the Neolithic colony of Kalumpang in West Central Celebes has been dated at 1000 A.D. by the author, and it is general knowledge that even today in the interior of New Guinea there are Papuan tribes living in conditions of the Neolithic proper.
