Abstract

As a general rule, calcium antagonist protection has usually been obtained in the experimental setting when the drugs were added before the onset of ischemia (1-15). This ability to protect applies to verapamil, nifedipine, diltiazem, as well as to their derivatives such as gallopamil (16) and anipamil (16-19).
