Abstract

In the period from 1784 to 1834, no less than twenty-seven episodic plays were written in which Molière appears as one of the characters. Only nine of the dramatized episodes from his life remained unpublished, itself an indication that the personality of Molière had a considerable appeal to the public. Among the published plays only one presented Molière as a young man, before his fame was established.
