Abstract

The desirability of initiating contraception soon after delivery is self-evident (Echeverry 1973; Zatuchni 1970: virtually no puerpera desires a new pregnancy right away and, except in women who are breast-feeding or taking a long-acting steroid preparation to inhibit lactation (van Bogaert et al. 1977), resumption of ovulation may take place early (Zarate et al. 1974).
