Abstract
The maximum overlap criterion of a model wave function with the exact ground-state is used to obtain the best Jastrow wave function. We show that this criterion can be implemented by an iterative procedure based on the random phase approximation and Monte Carlo computations and we present results for the Lennard Jones Bose fluid at two densities.
