Abstract
Six fungicides were tested for controlling the European strain of G. abietina on Scots pine stock. Chlorothalonil and a combination of chlorothalonil + cycloheximide were most effective. Four sprays of chlorothalonil at 1% ai were as effective as 12 sprays at 0.3% ai. Severe infection developed in all test plots regardless of treatment during February 1981 when temperatures were above OC and free water was present on exposed seedlings. These infected seedlings showed no symptoms until mid-June 1981.
