Abstract

Large-scale star formation in the Magellanic Clouds has started as bursts caused by external disturbances at several well-identified epochs according to available models for their orbits and age determinations for various classes of objects. In the youngest population, in particular in the Large Magellanic Cloud, stochastic self-propagating star formation is evident and clearly connected with the expansion of the supershells formed in the bursts. Presently, activities are strongest in the regions where supershells appear to be in collision.
