Abstract
The Bombay monsoon was heavy in 1955. From plastic lined tarpaulins on the leaky roof of a deserted army barrack, the rain water rushed gurgling into carefully cleaned large glass carboys. Inside the hut, in the only dry corner, we used home made ion exchange columns to recover less than a million atoms of Be7 which cosmic rays had produced in their passage through the atmosphere and which had been washed out by the condensing moisture.
