L’ecocardiografia fetale rappresenta un esame diagnostico di II livello, da praticare, cioè, in tutte le gestanti che presentano un rischio maggiore rispetto alla popolazione generale di dare alla luce un feto affetto da una cardiopatia congenita (CC), per la presenza di uno o più fattori di rischio specifici materni e/o fetali (Tabella 9.1). Tutta la restante popolazione, da cui deriva, però, la maggior parte (il 70%–75%) dei feti cardiopatici, dovrebbe essere sottoposta a test di screening [1,2].
