Zusammenfassung

Client/Server-Computing wird als zentrales Thema der Informationstechnologie der 90er Jahre angesehen. Viele Unternehmen stellen ihre Host-basierten Rechner-Umgebungen auf Client/Server-Architekturen um oder führen Entwicklungen von neuen Anwendungen nach dem Client/Server-Modell durch. Mit der Umstellung und Einführung von solchen Anwendungen wird auch der benutzerorientierten Software-Gestaltung ein besonderes Interesse geschenkt. Tool-Unterstützung wird sowohl für die Umstellung als auch für die Neuentwicklung von Anwendungen gefordert, sowie insbesondere für die benutzerorientierte Software-Gestaltung. Mit Maestro II liegt eine Anwendungsentwicklungsumgebung vor, die den neuen Anforderungen gerecht wird.

Abstract

Client/server computing is a central topic in the discussion of information technology of the ’90s. Many organizations are moving from a host-based computing environment towards an environment that is called a client/server architecture, or they are developing new applications according to the client/server-model. By moving/developing of such applications special interest is given to the usercentered software-design. Tool-support is required for both porting of applications and development of new applications, as well as for the user-centered design of software. Maestro II is an application development environment that is well-suited for these new requirements.

Résumé

L’informatique client/server est considérée comme le thème central de la technologie de l’information des années 90. Beaucoup d’entreprises réadaptent leurs environnements informatiques traditionnels en une architecture client/server où bien, développent de nouvelles applications selon le modèle client/server. La réorganisation et l’introduction de telles applications rehausse particulièrement l’interêt des logiciels orientés utilisateur. L’assistance d’outils (“tools”) est nécessaire autant pour la réorganisation que pour le développement de nouvelles applications, mais aussi et particulièrement pour les logiciels orientés utilisateurs. Maestro II offre un environnement de développement d’applications qui satisfait aux nouvelles exigences.
