Zusammenfassung

Der „nicht erholsamer Schlaf“ kann über eine gelegentliche Befindlichkeitsstörung hinaus zu Krankheit und Tod führen. Unter dem Begriff Schlafapnoesyndrom (SAS) werden drei Diagnosen subsummiert. Bei Erwachsenen ist das obstruktive Schlafapnoesyndrom (OSAS) mit ca. 90 % die häufigste und schwerwiegendste Form, dessen eigenständiges Risikoprofil insbesondere für kardiovaskuläre Komplikationen zunehmend in den Blickpunkt geriet.
