Zusammenfassung

Die Poxviridae sind eine große Familie, zu der 6 Genera gehören. Diese Genera werden auf der Grundlage gemeinsamer Antigene bei den jeweiligen Poxviren gebildet; außerdem besitzen alle Poxviren ein gemeinsames Nucleoprotein(NP)-Antigen. Für die Taxonomie der Poxviren wird auch ihre Fähigkeit zur genetischen Rekombination verwendet.
