Summary

Nowadays, information systems are an important aid in the control of technical processes. Their planning has to be unified with regard to the integration of system components. It is no longer useful to consider only the individual projects. The totality of projects to be carried out in the next years has to be considered all together. Concepts that are based on these considerations are called control structure concepts. They are an important aid in the implementation of information systems and therefore also in the implementation of process control systems as a subset of information systems. The making out of control structure concepts contains three phases, namely the making out of the description of the problem, the working out of suggestions for the solution and finally the fixing of the control structure concept. The different aspects to be treated in the three phases are described and illustrated.
