Abstract

The data communication services used by the UK National Health Service (NHS) have increased considerably during the last few years. The availability of good quality data communications services is recognised as a key factor in the successful implementation of the changes proposed in the recent government legislation. The NHS already has a considerable number of data communication networks, supporting many different manufacturers’ systems. This paper briefly explains the role of interoperability testing, to ensure that users get systems that work, and the service offered by the NHS Information Management Centre.
