Zusammenfassung

Das Kniegelenk vereinigt in sich einen Komplex von gleitenden, rotierenden und feststellenden Funktionen [1]. Beim Strecken aus der Hocke rotiert die Tibia nach außen und der Femur nach innen. Diese Rotationsmechanismen verlangen eine Bänderstabilität besonders auch beim Laufen. Die Funktion der Menisci ist nicht völlig abgeklärt, wohl aber, daß sie eine Druckaufnahme bewirken und die Drehfunktion stabilisieren [1]. Etwa ein Dutzend Schleimbeutel sind in der Knieregion lokalisiert, einige davon kommunizieren mit der Gelenkhöhle selbst (Abb. 9.1).
