Abstract
Time resolved Resonance CARS spectra of a series of bisdimethylaminomethine dyes and of their isomers recorded after photoexcitation have been obtained. For all dyes a very intense characteristic “photoisomer CARS line” at 1070cm−1 is observed which can be assigned to a mode localized at one end of the π-chain of the 1,2 mono-cis photoisomer. The observed frequency and intensity differences between the14N and 15N- substituted heptamethine and their photoisomers are reproduced by our calculations fairly well.
