Zusammenfassung

Während der letzten 20 Jahre hat die chronische Bronchitis in den Industrieländern einen erheblichen Stellenwert eingenommen. Neben der vorwiegend viralen Ätiologie der akuten Bronchitis besteht allgemeine Übereinstimmung dahingehend, daß die chronische Bronchitis direkt korreliert zu dem Umfang und der Dauer des Zigaretteninhalationsrauchens, zu Umwelt- und sozioökonomischen Bedingungen sowie auch zu rezidivierenden Infektionen des unteren Respirationstraktes im Kindesalter.
