Abstract
During the past decade there has been an increasing interest in the diagnosis and treatment of liver metastases. The results of treatment reported in the literature are frequently contradictory because different selection criteria of the patients are adopted. As a consequence the comparison of one therapy with another is difficult or quite impossible. We should try to overcome these difficulties by adopting a common language among oncologists. In other words, we should be forced to use a worldwide accepted classification of liver metastases.
