Abstract
Diabetics treated with insulin exhibit excessive cardiovascular mortality. Therefore we analysed:

The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors in a representative group (n = 330) of diabetics and compared the parameters with randomly selected probands.

In a follow up study (time intervall 4 years) we reexamined 156 diabetics 55 died. The relations of risk factors to cardiovascular complications were investigated. All prevalence factors are higher in females than in males, specially HTG.
