Die Elektrophorese ist eine der am meisten verbreiteten Trenntechniken und auch heute noch ein innovatives Forschungsgebiet, obwohl die theoretischen Grundlagen durch die bahnbrechenden Arbeiten von Kohlrausch [1] seit fast 100 Jahren bekannt sind. Innerhalb der vielen verschiedenen elektrophoretischen Methoden, wie etwa der isoelektrischen Fokussierung in ultradünnen Gelen oder der zweidimensionalen Gelelektrophorese, stellt die Kapillarelektrophorese (CE) die jüngste Entwicklung in dieser Reihe dar.
