Die enge anatomische Beziehung zwischen Anorektum und Uterus, Vagina, Harnblase, Prostata und männlicher Urethra sowie die Tatsache, daß diese Organe die gleichen Stützstrukturen des Beckenbo dens miteinander teilen, bilden die Grundlage der vielen Wechselbeziehungen zwischen gynäkologischen und urologischen Erkrankungen sowie pathologischen Zuständen des Anorektums.
