Zusammenfassung

Fortschritte in der Zytogenetik, der experimentellen Embryologie, der Steroidbiochemie und bei den Methoden zur Beurteilung der Interaktion zwischen dem Hypothalamus, der Hypophyse und den Gonaden haben wesentlich zur Klärung von Problemen der Geschlechtsdifferenzierung beigetragen. Mißbildungen können in jedem Stadium des intrauterinen Reifungsprozesses auftreten und zu makroskopischer ambisexueller Entwicklung oder zu subtilen Veränderungen führen, die sich erst im sexuell-reifen Alter manifestieren.
